The djembe is a wonderful instrument for anyone to explore and learning to play the instrument is a great way to start your music journey with the piano academy. By coming up with new beats to play along with your favorite songs, connecting with your instrument and other players through the universal language of rhythm is truly inspiring
Singing
Every singer, regardless of their current level, starts at the beginning. At 88 the piano academy, you will learn how to embrace your voice regardless of how you understand it. Through challenging vocal exercises to singing along to your favorite songs, the academy will always provide a supportive environment where you can explore your voice with no judgment even though it does involve some effort and courage, which the academy can assist you with!
Piano
Learning to play the piano at 88 the piano academy is an excellent starting point for new musicians. The academy itself all started with one piano to something we’d never imagine. Through learning how to play the piano with songs of all styles, to starting with a few basic chords and even composing your own music, the piano will change the way you see music for the better. “I tell my piano the things I used to tell you.”– Chopin
Drums
Drums are the beating heart of music. At the academy, the drums are made to be both exciting and enjoyable for all ages. We teach rhythm, dynamics with so much more to explore. The drums is one of our percussion instruments that side with the cajon and djembe. Whether your playing solo or jamming with friends, drumming will always leave a lasting impression
Ukulele
The ukulele is a great instrument to learn for beginners or young students who have an interest in string-playing instruments such as the guitar! The instrument is portable, light weighted and is easier to understand. Playing this instrument is also a great way to enter the world of understanding musical theory for all ages
Cajón
At 88 the piano academy, the cajon is a great beginners instrument. It is a percussion instrument that is easily portable.We explore rhythm techniques and create our own beats to songs. Here at the academy we encourage people to experience the joy that comes from learning and playing an instrument and the cajon is a great start
Guitar
Learning to play the guitar at 88 the Piano Academy brings up a world of creative possibilities. You can create your own music, experiment with various styles, and add a unique perspective to current songs. You gain the capacity to communicate with other players, jam together, and share your enthusiasm. The guitar is an instrument with virtually endless learning possibilities. There will always be something new to discover, no matter how good you get. The guitar ensures a lifelong journey of growth and ongoing learning, whether it's a different genre, a new technique, or mastering a complex composition
ABOUT 88
88 – The Piano Academy is a school of music focusing on piano playing and performance, which we began in 2012, in Mumbai. What began as a handful of students (our first recital had 7 students) has now grown into the beautiful family you see on stage and in the audience. Additionally, there are many who could not be here with us this year as well, but remain a strong part of the school.
Around 10 – 15 years ago, it was difficult to have access to great music lessons in Mumbai. It would be necessary to have an instrument and access to teachers, both of which were very difficult to obtain then. Our passion and commitment has led us to be ‘enablers’ in the city and create opportunities and resources for children and adults of various ages, to gain access to quality music education, while making the entire experience a beautiful one.
We know the importance of introducing an instrument during the formative childhood years and believe in starting early, and also try giving each student a strong platform of recital and performance playing, which will be appreciated internationally. We aim to make the process of learning fun for the students, while simultaneously building a foundation of strong technical and sight-reading skills at the piano for them as well.

88 is a biggest small academy run by a family of great pianists, committed to share and pass on their passion and talent to their students both young and younger. ;) For our boys we were looking for a piano academy that focuses on imparting love for music to their students. And we couldn’t be more happier with the outcome.
